Love From Both Sides – Nick Spalding

Love From Both Sides – Nick Spalding

Have you ever had a bad date?

I bet you have.

Whether you are happily married, in a relationship or single (like me) then I bet you have a few stories to tell about “bad dates”.

“Love From Both Sides” perfectly encapsulates the struggle of trying to find “The One”. As they say, you have to kiss a few frogs before you find your Prince…

I’m a massive fan of Nick Spalding. Regular Book Boy readers will know that I absolutely loved Life…With No Breaks, giving  it 4/5. The sequel Life…On a High was so funny I nearly wet myself and awarded it a must read status of 5/5.

Nick SpaldingI got a message from Nick on Twitter (@spalding_author) thanking me for these reviews ^^ and that I needed to check out the Love series (click pic, above).

And so I downloaded “Love From Both Sides“, and have to say I was not disappointed.

I loved it. Simply because I could relate to the main character, Jamie.

Unlucky in love, Jamie is approaching his 30s and wants to settle down. In order to do so, he puts himself through hell – like speed dating. I laughed out loud at his attempts at trying to find love.

At this same speed dating event was Laura. Who is also looking for love.

But they keep missing each other. Time and time again. You are left thinking to yourself “GAH!!! MEET UP!”

Told through a series of blog posts, Jamie and Laura do finally hook up. But it all goes pear shaped when Jamie buys some “off” chicken and ends up relieving his stomach in a bin. Yes, you heard me correctly. His second date ends up with him crapping in a bin…. lol.

Life with no breaks nick spalding authorThrow in a crazy neighbour, an ex boyfriend, a dead mum, a go-kart race, a microlight excursion and you have all the elements of a book about the trials and tribulations of dating.

All I can say is that Nick once again had me hooked. This man not only writes well, he has obviously been hurt before and thanks his lucky stars that he has found his “one”.

I am still yet to find my “one”, but who knows – I have a special lady on my horizon….

We’re just in the “getting to know you stage”, right now. But let me tell you now, I hope I don’t ever cook her a dinner of fajitas which gives her the squits!

Well done Nick, once again I was in hysterics. This is a book for all the single Jamies and Lauras out there.

I loved it.

The Book Boy Rating – 4/5
